Global Shapers 10 Year Anniversary Celebration

Driving Action to Achieve the Global Goals

A decade ago, the Global Shapers Community was created with the mission of empowering young people by amplifying their voices around the world and enabling them to self-organize to implement projects for their local communities.

It is vital that young people are represented in important global issues; they are key stakeholders and should be central to solution-building, policy-making and effecting lasting change.

This global community of young change-makers, aged between 18 and 30, is taking action to improve the state of the world, one local community at a time. Global Shapers are progressing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, that serve as a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all by 2030.

Now, more than ever, we need their energy and vision to tackle the formidable, but not insurmountable, challenges ahead.

Panel Discussion: Making the Business Case for Sustainability

In August of this year, the Business Roundtable announced the release of a new Statement on the purpose of a corporation. It included "embracing sustainable practices across our businesses".

How can your company strengthen its competitiveness while simultaneously reducing its environmental impacts? Incremental cost-savings measures can be good for the bottom line and for the environment, but what about more ambitious ideas and comprehensive approaches such as full life-cycle design?

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs are multifaceted and can have lasting positive impacts. They can generate new income streams and cost savings through circular material management, access tax rebates, and meaningfully elevate employee productivity, creativity and satisfaction.

Join Global Shapers Palo Alto and GABA for a conversation about how different sustainability practices can make companies stronger. On the practical side, we will also discuss how you get your team behind an audacious transformational idea as well as how to best select, scale and maximize the impact of more incremental measures.

TechKnowCon

Global Shapers Palo Alto are proud to be a community partner for this year’s TechKnowCon.

TechKnowCon first originated as an idea in 2018 in recognition of a common problem. We realized there was no easy way to compare notes and share best practices on how to best run learning, documentation, and similar initiatives at our respective companies. We wanted to create an active and enduring community of professionals who care about technical training in the workplace, and we wanted to create a forum to exchange ideas on how to scale learning initiatives. Inspired by our peers' innovations in this domain, we decided to host TechKnowCon.
